Then the LORD answered me and said,
"Record the
vision and inscribe it on tablets that the one who reads it may run. For the
vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will
not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will
not delay.”
Habakkuk 2:2-3 NASB
In
preparation to speak on Sanctity of Life Sunday, I did some research into the
current statistics of abortion in my county.
I found that we averaged eighty-something abortions per year with the
latest actual number being ninety-six.
As I dialogued with the Lord over these statistics, my heart said, “Ninety-six
abortions are ninety-six too many. This number should be zero…” Then I found
myself asking, “Why can’t this number be
zero?” Immediately, faith arose in
my heart as God dropped into my spirit the words “Abortion Free Zone.” I saw in
my mind’s eye the signs that are posted outside of schools which read “Drug
Free Zone”; except now, they read “Abortion Free Zone.” Yes! My county could be an “Abortion Free
Zone”. And then faith said, “My County will be an ‘Abortion Free Zone’.”
God dropped
this vision of an abortion free county into my spirit, but he also dropped into
my spirit the faith for this vision to pass to others—not just others in my
county, but also others for their counties. What I am talking about is not a
change in legislation. In fact, I think
our focus has been there—almost thinking that a legislative change has to take
place first before we will see the end of abortion. What I felt and saw in my
spirit and my mind’s eye, though, was a heart change—a shift in the hearts and
minds of the people of my county. It was
a shift in the spiritual atmosphere that I believe will start with the birth of
faith for an “Abortion Free Zone” in the hearts and minds of God’s people. Several passages of scripture have come to
mind in this process.
And
Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart,
but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which
you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted
you.” [Mark 11:22-24 NASB]
And
He said to them, "… for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of
a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and
it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” [Matthew 17:20 NASB]
Then
he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by
might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. What are you, O Great
Mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth
the top stone with shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’ “[Zechariah 4:6-7 NASB]
I say to
you with these passages of scripture in mind,
“What is this mountain of abortion
before God’s people? With faith in God, it is nothing!
It will become a plain!”
I believe,
it has often been hard for us to grasp a vision for the end of abortion for our
nation as a whole; but getting a vision for our own county and for our own
locale is a catchable vision. So, let
God grip your heart with faith for your county and for your locale. If we all caught a vision for our own
counties, guess what? We would as individual parts make up the whole.
Take a
moment now, and let God stir faith in your spirit as you read and meditate on the
scriptures previously referenced and the list of scriptures below. Ask Him to birth this vision in your heart. Ask Him to show you how to partner with Him
and the power of His might to see your county become an “Abortion Free Zone”.
Ah,
Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power
and outstretched arm. There is
nothing too hard for You. [Jeremiah 32:17 NKJV]
But
Jesus looked at [them] and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
[Matthew 19:26 NKJV]
But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men [it is] impossible, but not
with God; for with God all things are possible." [Mark 10:27 NKJV]
"For with God nothing
will be impossible."
[Luke 1:37 NKJV]
Now to Him who is able to do
exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that works in us, [Ephesians
3:20 NKJV]
